October: Maiwand Bank takes the edge by signing up with Avanza Solutions
Maiwand Bank being one of the upcoming banks in Afghanistan, who have recently commenced operations with this vision to emerge as one of the strongest international commercial banking institution in Afghanistan with state-of-the-art technology and innovative products and services to act as a strong catalyst for economic growth and business prosperity in the economic reconstruction process of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. To achieve this goal and further strengthen their driver towards success, Maiwand Bank signed up with Avanza Solutions through their local partner Pacific Consulting & Trading (PCT) for their new operation setup selecting Nimbus as their ATM and POS Controller solution. They have gone with Avanza’s winning combination of Nimbus (ATM & POS Controller), Rendezvous (Middleware), and Vision (Debit Card Production and Reporting Solution) and have named it EDGE. Furthermore, Maiwand Bank’s customers will have the facility to authenticate themselves using finger prints. State of the art biometric solution will be deployed to provide this feature at the ATMs.
October: Avanza Solutions’ first Account signed up in Bangladesh
National Credit & Commerce Bank Limited (NCCBL) Bangladesh selects Avanza Solutions in partnership of NCR’s local partner in Bangladesh, Technomedia Limited (TML), to build up their e-Infrastructure solution management. They have signed up Avanza’s following products:
- Nimbus – ATM & POS Controller
- Rendezvous – Financial Middleware
- Vision – Debit Card Production System
- Kaizen – Kiosk Solution
September: MasterCard Goes Live at Kabul Bank
Kabul bank is the largest commercial Bank of Afghanistan. Having initiated commercial operations in 2004, the Bank has become the market leader in terms of business volume, number of branches, customer base, quality of customer service, employees etc and has now gone live with MasterCard. By achieving this milestone, Kabul Bank has become the first bank in Afghanistan to be certified with MasterCard for debit and credit card services with Avanza Solutions as technology partners.
August: KASB extends Avanza Solutions responsibilities of taking care of their VISA transactions
The requirements from KASB Bank were to extend the current implementation by Avanza Solutions to provide transactions as an issuer. These transactions will originate from VISA network and routed to KASB Bank by 1LINK. Moreover, the card production process would be extended in such a way that there will be one VISA card without any classification and card encoding/printing should be upgraded to follow VISA requirements.
July: Arif Habib Bank goes live with Nimbus, Rendezvous, and Vision
AHB has gone live with Avanza’s Nimbus, Rendezvous, and Vision. This migration activity went very smooth and was taken up very professionally by the AHB and Avanza’s team, hats off to the whole project team, who worked day and night with dedication and commitment. AHB has successfully migrated all their 40 ATM’s from their current ATM controller to Avanza’s Nimbus. During this smooth cutover AHB switched their operations from MNET to 1Link. As a result AHB is now 1Link’s member bank. This wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication shown by Avanza Solutions and the overwhelming support from Arif Habib Bank.
July: HBL UAE goes live
HBL has gone live with Avanza’s solutions for UAE operations, becoming the very first institution to have successfully moved from a distributed environment to a centralized one in Pakistan. The ATMs at HBL UAE were migrated from the legacy ATM controller to Avanza’s Nimbus in a seamless manner and without any interruption in the operations. Further to this, HBL UAE has now become among the first EMV acquiring banks to be certified by the UAE switch. All of this would not have been possible without the sincere dedication and commitment shown by the Avanza and HBL teams working together on this project.

July: Ministry of Social Affairs (MSA) signs up with Avanza Solutions for Intranet Portal Implementation
Ministry of Social Affairs in its endeavor to build an employee portal and to improve document management and collaboration has drawn the initiative of Intranet portal. The portal initiative exposes the information related to MSA and associated 16 plus departments and intends to eliminate physical storage of documents on the file server thus leveraging their employees with a full featured document management system, better collaboration services along with internal workflows, professional look and feel, more functional, user friendly, and simple. To achieve desired objectives, we are utilizing MOSS 2007 Intranet functionality with custom build components.
June: Meezan Bank and Avanza successfully complete VISA Certification via 1Link
Meezan Bank is the leader in Islamic Banking in Pakistan. It also has a strong infrastructure in place using Avanza’s Nimbus, Rendezvous, and CardPro. In order to add value to the current Debit Card offering, Meezan Bank recently got certified with VISA network (via 1Link) so that its customers can take advantage of the worldwide VISA ATM and POS network.

June: Dubai Statistics Center selected Avanza Solutions for their Internet and Intranet Portal Development
The Dubai Statistics Center – DSC specializes in the construction of a modern and comprehensive statistical system and shall be the only official source for the collection, analysis, and publication of statistical information and data in the Emirates adopting harmonized methodological international standards. Recently, DSC is taking an initiative to provide enterprise level capabilities to meet business critical needs like managing content and business processes, simplifying how people find and share information across boundaries.
Emitac/Avanza Solutions will utilize the capabilities of recommended Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007, which is readily deployable, mature, scalable, user friendly product, and will meet all requirements set forth by DSC throughout Internet and Intranet Portal.
June: Avanza Solutions has been selected by National Media Council (NMC) for their Internet Portal
Avanza will leverage National Media Council with an Internet Portal incorporating MOSS 2007 Out of Box features along with various external E-Services, Web Content Management, Document Management and Collaboration features.
June: Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) signs up with Avanza for MOSS
A solution based on MOSS 2007 intends to automate the existing processes of Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry thus providing a single point of interface for all members to access multiple diversified services office by SCCI. Along with process automation, portal will expose news/announcements along with SCCI departmental information.
May: Barwa Bank chooses Avanza to build an employee portal to help improve document management through SharePoint Server
Barwa Bank in its endeavor to build an employee portal and to improve document management has drawn the initiative of Intranet portal based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. Portal initiative exposes the information related to Barwa Bank and associated divisions and intends to eliminate physical storage of documents on the file server.
May: Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) selects Avanza Solutions to facilitate them for their Project Management Process
ADIB, in its endeavor to facilitate the Project Management Process, will migrate their existing MS EPM 2003 installation to Microsoft EPM 2007. This migration will enhance and improve upon Project and Resource tracking processes for ADIB Project Managers, Executives, and Team Members. Solution will facilitate ADIB Project Managers, Executives, and Team Members to accurately track their projects, electronically send the task updates, ability to track all Projects and resources, at a central location, and storing project artifacts securely.
April: KASB Bank chooses Avanza Solutions to add value to their current Debit Card offering by getting certification for VISA issuing and integration through 1Link
The requirements from KASB Bank are to extend the current implementation by Avanza Solutions to provide the transactions as an issuer. These transactions will originate from VISA network and routed to KASB Bank by 1LINK. Moreover, the card production process will be extended.
Card encoding/ printing would be upgraded to follow VISA requirements, with customer snap to be printed on the card
April: NIB Bank has yet again selected Avanza Solutions to make IBFT transactions available on their Call Center
NIB bank as of now is using Rendezvous as the middleware for transaction processing and Nimbus as the ATM switch. Rendezvous is, currently, connected with 1Link and all the 1Link transactions are being offered on the ATMs including IBFT transaction. Project requirement is to make the same IBFT transaction available on the Call Center Application.
The Call Center channel will communicate using TCP/IP protocol. Call Center application will connect to Rendezvous in client mode and send the transaction requests using ISO8583 message format. The requirement is for IBFT transaction only (both Title Fetch and Funds Transfer), however, sign on and sign off transactions will also be provided. Additional security measures are also being proposed for this channel, as being done for the ATMs.
April: Barclays has yet again signed up with Avanza Solutions to implement a technology based solution. They have gone for a MOSS implementation to automate their business processes
Barclays, in its endeavor to build intranet portal and to improve collaboration services has drawn the initiative of intranet portal to facilitate employee collaboration, automate internal business processes, and bridging the gap between management and employees. The intranet portal initiative exposes the information related to and associated departments along with automated workflows and collaboration thus permitting an easy access to their users.
April: AHB has signed up with Avanza Solutions to implement a technology based solution
They have gone for our middleware Rendezvous to add the support of an in-house prepaid card solution by the name of GPM. The idea is to integrate a new channel with Rendezvous for GPM terminations. The cards will be used to consume already deposited money through linking of cards with the deposited funds and/or any corresponding account will be maintained on the core banking host of the bank. Rendezvous will maintain the daily limits for these cards.
Card Printing will be done through Vision. PIN Generation will also be handled on Vision. Vision will be connected with HSM and the generated PINs will always be encrypted using DES algorithm.
PIN Generation and PIN Change transactions will be added on IVR channel and the customers will have the option to change or generate their GPM Pins through IVR.
In the scope of this project, GPM network will be integrated with Rendezvous and Vision.
March: BankIslami has signed up with Avanza Solutions to help it migration from PIBAS to iMAL
BankIslami is in the process of changing its core banking system from PIBAS to iMAL. All the alternate delivery channels are currently connected to Avanza’s middleware Rendezvous along with the processing of backend host transactions being managed there as well.
The existing interface between Rendezvous and PIBAS is a message based interface over TCP/IP. The new interface provided by iMAL would provide all the existing transactions available over all the delivery channels in order to migrate the existing systems without affecting the services offered on the delivery channels. iMAL will provide a stored procedure based interface. These stored procedures are running in Sybase. Rendezvous will use the Sybase ODBC driver to connect to iMAL and then execute these procedures.
February: Barclays has signed up with Avanza Solutions to implement a technology based solution. They have gone for our product ‘Vision’ to help them meet their requirements
Barclays already has a card production setup in place that is outsourced to another institution. Barclays requires bringing this setup in house by utilizing Avanza’s Card Production Solution “Vision”.
February: GCAA (General Civil Aviation Authority) has, recently, launched its e-Services portal for its customers. To appreciate active participation in the process of GCAA e-Services development and for helping GCAA to meet their objectives in providing quality services to its customer the GCAA management awarded “Certification of Appreciation” to Kamran Shakir (Project Manager) and Ayman Tawaya
An award ceremony was held at GCAA’s Dubai office under the patronage of His Excellency Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori, Minister of Economy.

AAWPR in its endeavor to build a website and to improve collaboration services has drawn the initiative of internet portal built on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007. The portal initiative exposes the information related to AAWPR thus permitting an easy access to internal\external users. Portal will create a unique image of AAWPR as a competence centre for environmental protection and conservation and will be focal point to read the latest news and activities regarding wildlife.
January: Arif Habib Bank selects Avanza Solutions for their ATM Controller ‘NIMBUS’ and Card Production System ‘VISION’ to strengthen their e-Infrastructure
Arif Habib Bank is in the process of upgrading their infrastructure for this very reason they have opted for Avanza’s proven e-Infrastructure solution. The project not only involves replacement of their current ATM controller from HPLUS to Nimbus but also involves using RDV as the backbone for all communication channels as their cooperate middleware. For card production needs Arif Habib Bank will be using Avanza’s Vision, which provides a 360 degree view of customer and its entire instruments. The project has been divided into two phases, phase one encompasses: Migration from HPLUS to Nimbus, 1 Link Certification, VISA Certification via 1 Link, Vision for Card Production and IVR Integration For Phase 2 the following are part of the scope: Cash & Cheque Deposit Solution, Bill Payment via 1Link, Mobile Banking Interface, Call Center Interface & Internet Banking Interface.
